Printed nail line guides installers to position and fasten the shingles correctly, to help keep them on the roof and prevent them from blowing off in high wind.
We embed special algae-resistant granules into our shingles to help inhibit the growth of blue-green algae that can cause unattractive black stains, streaks and discoloration.
You want your new shingles to stay put. If the wind lifts them up, water can sneak in underneath and may cause a leaky roof. Our shingles have IKO FastLock® sealant strips along their bottom edges. When activated by the sun’s heat, these strips get extra-tacky and create a strong bond to ensure maximum protection against wind uplift, blow-off and water penetration.
This Shingle’s Core Strength is its Fiberglass Mat. Our fiberglass mat is coated top and bottom with weathering asphalt, then surfaced with colored granules. It’s heavy-duty for exceptional durability and structural integrity.
IKO® Armourshake™
From IKO: “Armourshake shingles are constructed of two fiberglass mats, laminated together for strength, durability and flexibility. Of all the shingles we produce, IKO Armourshake stands alone in terms of its dimensional thickness, weight and exposure.”Â
Heavy-weight construction and IKO’s own modified asphalt coating act as a shock absorber to cushion the impact of hail. *This rating is solely for the purpose of enabling residential property owners to obtain a reduction in their residential insurance premium, if available. This is not a guarantee of impact resistance against hail. Damage from hail is not covered under the limited warranty.

IKO FastLock TM sealant strips run across the back of the shingles. When activated by the sun’s heat, the sealant strips get extra-tacky, create a strong bond and help prevent wind uplift.
The sun’s ultraviolet rays can potentially cause discoloration. IKO Armourshake shingles have reflective granules embedded in their surface to help prevent this from happening.
